Senior Forester

Aski Reclamation LP an indigenous-owned environmental consulting company which

Role Summary

The Senior Forester leads the planning, eligibility screening, prescription development,
and delivery of road restoration projects for Aski’s various clients. The role provides
Registered Professional Forester (RPF) oversight across road restoration prescriptions,
ensuring program and regulatory requirements are met.

Working at both operational and strategic levels, the Senior Forester coordinates with
Indigenous Nations, tenure holders, and other stakeholders to confirm objectives and
ensure restoration activities will not conflict with existing obligations or future industrial
needs. The role develops implementation plans, oversees contractors, and completes
professional field reviews and documentation (maps, survey records, and assurance
statements) to demonstrate that road treatments are delivered as prescribed, protect
adjacent resources, and support project outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead road restoration assessments, including road status/tenure confirmation
  and oversee reconnaissance surveys.
• Lead in planning and executing landscape-level restoration efforts, and
  identifying environmental and safety risks in complex road networks.
• Develop and seal (as applicable) restoration prescriptions and site plans as an
  RPF, with primary emphasis on restoring natural drainage patterns (e.g., crossditching,
  re-contouring, installation and removal of temporary bridges and
  crossings.
• Design deactivation and reforestation prescriptions for forest roads
  corresponding to level 1, 2 and 3 road survey classifications.
• Site preparation and reforestation strategies for inactive road surfaces
  (decompaction, re-contouring, topsoil handling, microsite creation, species
  selection, and stocking targets) to maximize restoration efforts while minimizing
  disturbance.

Job Description

• Coordinate consultation and information sharing with Indigenous Nations,
  regional staff, tenure holders, and user groups; integrate local knowledge and
  shared-benefits objectives (fish/water, wildlife habitat, public safety, and access
  management).
• Plan, procure, and oversee contractors and equipment for road works and
  planting; develop scopes of work, schedules, and cost estimates; track progress
  against budget and funding requirements.
• Conduct field reviews/inspections during and after implementation to confirm
  works are in general conformance with prescriptions and protect adjacent
  resources; document deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Prepare project documentation required for program administration (treatment
  maps, photo logs, survey forms, assurance statements, and completion
  reporting) and maintain defensible records for audits.
• Provide technical advice to clients as needed.
• Support proposal development for accessing public and private funding streams
  for road restoration.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in forestry or forestry engineering is required.
• Registration with Forest Professionals BC
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing road
  rehabilitation/deactivation prescriptions, including drainage restoration,
  decompaction/site preparation, and reforestation of inactive road surfaces in
  northeast BC.
• Experience with eligibility assessments and documentation (e.g., reconnaissance
  surveys for woody vegetation cover, defensible record keeping) and strong
  GIS/mapping skills (ArcGIS/QGIS) for treatment planning and reporting.
• Experience with RESULTS reporting would be considered an asset.
• Terrain stability assessments would be considered an asset.

Compensation:

Wage range $38 - $68 based on education and experience.
