Project Manager – Construction (3-Month Contract)

The Organization

Our confidential client is a growing construction services provider operating in Western Canada. The company delivers a range of industrial and project support services to clients in the resource, construction, and energy sectors. Wholly owned by a First Nation, the company is committed to creating employment and contracting opportunities for its membership while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and competitive service.

The Opportunity

The organization is seeking an experienced leader for a three-month contract to oversee operations and provide stability. This role is responsible for ensuring day-to-day continuity of construction project management, safe and efficient delivery of client projects, and consistent communication with the Board of Directors.

The Project Manager will provide hands-on oversight, steady leadership for staff, and reliable reporting to the Board while a permanent senior leader is being recruited.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Leadership & Stability

  • Provide interim leadership to maintain stability and confidence among staff, clients, and partners.
  • Foster a respectful, safe, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism in dealings with clients, contractors, and the community.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee construction project delivery to ensure jobs are completed safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Maintain effective systems for project planning, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Financial Oversight

  • Monitor budgets, job costing, and financial performance.
  • Provide regular financial and operational updates to the Board.
  • Support cost controls and contract management.

Client & Business Support

  • Maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure service quality and responsiveness.
  • Support continuity of business development activities.

Team Management

  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to supervisors and staff.
  • Encourage training and employment opportunities for community members.

Governance & Reporting

  • Report to the Board of Directors on operational performance, risks, and priorities.
  • Ensure adherence to governance policies and reporting obligations.

The Person

Qualifications & Experience (Required)

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in construction project management or industrial services.
  • Proven track record of managing operations, budgets, teams, and client delivery.
  • Strong financial literacy and experience with budget oversight.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and Indigenous economic participation.

Preferred

  • Experience reporting to a board of directors.
  • Knowledge of or connection to Indigenous communities and business partnerships.
  • Post-secondary education in business, engineering, construction management, or related field.

Compensation

A competitive short-term contract will be offered, commensurate with experience.
