Operations Manager

Mountain Time Industrial Services Ltd. (MTIS) is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead field logistics and operations, supervise crews, and support project execution on active industrial maintenance and construction sites.

Position Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be providing operational direction and oversight to MTIS field crews through Forepersons and site leadership across multiple job sites in Northeastern BC.

The Operations Manager will provide site support and supervision, including planning, scheduling, field coordination, safety oversight, productivity management, client communication, and quality control.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in the field, providing direction to crews, solving problems on site, and ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Supervision:

  • Supervise MTIS crews on active scaffolding, maintenance, and industrial services jobs, including regular site visits to active MTIS job sites.
  • Provide direction to crew members and ensure work is performed in accordance with site requirements, client expectations, MTIS policies, and applicable labour relations frameworks.
  • Ensure daily paperwork, time reporting, field documentation, safety records, and job updates are completed accurately and on time.
  • Mentor and support forepersons, lead hands, apprentices, and other crew members.
  • Support hiring recommendations and workforce planning as needed

Safety Leadership

  • Foster and actively lead a culture of safety accountability, engagement, and compliance across all field operations, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Lead and assist with incident prevention, hazard identification, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

Project Execution:

  • Plan and coordinate labour, materials, equipment, tools, and site logistics.
  • Support safe, productive, and efficient execution of work at all assigned sites.
  • Monitor job progress, productivity, quality, and crew performance.
  • Communicate with clients, site representatives, MTIS management, and crew members regarding job status, priorities, schedule changes, and field issues.
  • Identify upcoming work opportunities, resource needs, and potential project risks.
  • Support estimating, job planning, and workforce preparation as required.

Qualifications and Experience

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Prior leadership experience as a General Foreperson, Foreperson, Lead hand, Superintendent, or similar field leadership role, including leading multiple crews
  • Demonstrated safety leadership in industrial environments, and a commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and respectful workplace conduct.
  • Experience promoting a strong safety culture, conducting field-level hazard assessments, participating in investigations, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and company safety requirements.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements, safe work procedures, hazard assessment processes, incident reporting, and corrective action practices.
  • Significant experience in industrial scaffolding, maintenance, construction, or related industrial field work.
  • Strong knowledge of field supervision, crew planning, productivity management, and safe work execution.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with crews, clients, supervisors, and management.
  • Good judgment, reliability, and the ability to make practical decisions under changing site conditions.
  • Ability to read and understand work packages, drawings, client instructions, permits, and site requirements.
  • Experience working within a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Valid tickets, site access credentials, and safety certifications required for MTIS work, or the ability to obtain them.
  • A valid driver’s license (Class 5) and ability to travel between job sites.

Compensation and Terms

The expected salary range is $110,000–$120,000, depending on experience. MTIS offers a comprehensive benefits and pension package in addition to base salary.

A company vehicle or vehicle allowance will be provided.

Work Location

The role will involve work at MTIS job sites in northeastern British Columbia. Travel between sites will be required. Preference will be given to candidates living in the Peace River area.
