Position Summary:

4EG is requesting qualifications from Saulteau First Nations Band Members and community members for the positions of:

  • Logging Foreman
  • Road Construction Foreman

These roles are engaged on an “as and when required” basis for upcoming projects. Foremen are responsible for leading field crews, ensuring safe and productive operations, and delivering work to required quality, safety, and production standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Road Construction Foreman: 5+ years’ experience in road construction supervision
  • Foreman: 5+ years’ experience in logging operations supervision

Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with acceptable driver’s abstract (required at interview)
  • Mandatory safety tickets:
    • H2S Alive
    • WHMIS
    • OFA Level 1
    • TDG
    • Ground Disturbance

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and ability to supervise crews daily
  • Excellent organizational, time management, delegation, and prioritization skills
  • Strong communication skills with crews, supervisors, management, and clients
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings and site plans
  • Ability to estimate daily quantities and maintain accurate records
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Ability to maintain safe and productive work sites at all times
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and changing field conditions
  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding field-based work

Field Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily toolbox/tailgate safety meetings
  • Maintain daily diaries and documentation of field activities
  • Perform and document equipment inspections and safety checks
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and regulations
  • Operate two-way radios and field communication equipment
  • Understand safe operation and maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to crew members and new operators
  • Support training and development of workers in field processes and procedures
  • Promote and enforce a safe, respectful, drug-free workplace

Technical Requirements

  • Basic surveying knowledge and ability to interpret and set grades in the field
  • Ability to calculate weight, distance, volume, and material quantities
  • Understanding and use of MSDS/SDS documentation

Policies & Standards

  • Working knowledge of the BC Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Commitment to enforcing 4EG safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to lead by example in safety, conduct, and professionalism
  • Must comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements as a condition of employment

Equipment & PPE

Employees are responsible for:

  • Steel-toed boots
  • Fire-retardant coveralls
  • Hard hats
