Employment Type: “As and When Required” / Seasonal Project-Based

Position Summary:

4EG is requesting qualifications from Saulteau First Nations Band Members and community members for Heavy Equipment Operator and Driver positions on an “as and when required” basis.

Operators are responsible for safely operating, maintaining, and inspecting assigned heavy equipment or vehicles while completing field tasks in accordance with project plans, safety standards, and operational requirements.

Skill level, equipment assignments, and pay classification will be determined by 4EG Supervisors and Management based on experience and demonstrated competency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in construction, forestry, mining, or oil and gas operations
  • Heavy Equipment Operator training/program completion considered an asset
  • 5+ years’ experience may be required for advanced equipment assignment

Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with acceptable driver’s abstract (required at interview)
  • Class 1 or Class 3 with air endorsement required for truck drivers (must be presented at interview where applicable)
  • Mandatory safety tickets:
    • H2S Alive
    • WHMIS
    • OFA Level 1
    • TDG
    • Ground Disturbance Level 1
  • Additional certifications considered assets:
    • CSTS / Basic Safety Orientation
    • Petroleum Safety Training (PST)
    • Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST)
    • Oilfield Driver Awareness
    • S-100 Fire Suppression

Key Responsibilities

  1. Equipment Operation & Field Work

  • Safely operate assigned heavy equipment or vehicles
  • Perform work according to project plans, schedules, and instructions
  • Secure attachments and operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer and company standards
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently and to required quality standards
  1. Equipment Care & Maintenance

  • Perform daily pre- and post-operational inspections
  • Clean, lubricate, refuel, and maintain equipment
  • Complete maintenance logs and report issues immediately
  • Ensure equipment is always kept in safe working condition
  • Assist with minor repairs where authorized
  1. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all 4EG and client safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in toolbox and safety meetings
  • Complete and document safety inspections and required forms
  • Immediately report incidents, hazards, or equipment issues
  • Follow emergency response procedures, including spill containment protocols
  • Always maintain a safe worksite
  1. Communication & Reporting

  • Operate two-way radios and field communication systems
  • Maintain clear communication with supervisors and crew members
  • Submit required daily reports, logs, and documentation
  • Follow instructions from Supervisors and Project Managers
  1. Worksite Conduct & Teamwork

  • Work independently or as part of a team as required
  • Maintain a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Support a respectful, drug-free, and harassment-free workplace
  • Participate in training, mentoring, and skill development opportunities

PPE & Equipment Requirements:

Employees are responsible for:

  • CSA-approved steel-toed boots
  • Fire-retardant coveralls or appropriate workwear
  • Hard hat

4EG provides:

  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • High-visibility vest

Employees must also provide sufficient personal supplies (food, water, and weather-appropriate clothing)

Additional Requirements

  • Must be physically fit and able to perform demanding field work
  • Must be dependable, motivated, and adaptable to changing conditions
  • Must be available for remote work, camp stays, and short-notice deployments
  • Must comply with journey management and communication protocols
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing (and post-incident testing when required)
  • Must provide criminal record check and valid driver’s abstract
  • Must maintain confidentiality and comply with company policies and onboarding requirements

Working Conditions

  • Field-based work in variable weather and terrain conditions
  • May involve long hours, shift work, and remote site locations
  • Travel and camp accommodations may be required
  • Work will be performed under strict safety and operational standards

Compensation

Competitive hourly or project-based rates, depending on experience, equipment type, and skill classification (Operator in Training / Operator / Senior Operator)
