The Opportunity

Are you a results-driven financial leader with a knack for building robust financial systems and driving strategic growth? We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead our fiscal operations and provide essential insight into business performance in the natural resource sector. Reporting to the General Manager, and working closely with both the Board and the Senior Leadership Team, this role is pivotal in safeguarding financial integrity, ensuring compliance, and guiding sound decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Strategy & Oversight: Direct all financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Monitor cash flow, cost controls, and financial KPIs to ensure operational efficiency and fiscal health.
• Internal Controls & Compliance: Conduct audits, ensure financial accuracy, and implement improvements to strengthen internal controls.
• Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports (daily to annual), ensuring transparency and data-driven decision making.
• Technology & System Management: Oversee the integrity and performance of the Sage Intacct system and other financial tools.
• Operational Finance: Supervise accounts payable/receivable, payroll, benefits, and debt/credit
• Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements across financial workflows and reporting
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team. Liaise with bankers, insurers, financiers, and external auditors. Negotiate contracts and agreements with partners and

The Person

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA
• 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial leadership, preferably within natural resources, civil construction, or industrial sectors.
• In-depth understanding of financial and cost accounting, GAAP, auditing and internal
• Hands-on experience managing financial systems and platforms, ideally Sage Intacct.

Compensation
