We are hiring:
Seasonal Ecological Restoration Planting Technicians

Aski Reclamation LP is staffing up for an exciting 2023 season of native plant restoration work. We are looking for enthusiastic team players who love plants and working outside with like-minded people.

Position description

The Seasonal Ecological Restoration Planting Technician is primarily responsible for the planting and staking of native species for restoration projects, though at times, for both coverage support, and simply a bit of variety in their day-to-day functions, they may also assist our Field Technicians in Aquatics with water quality sampling or our Seed Collectors with our Seed Collection Program. Planting Technicians will report to Aski’s Restoration Project Coordinator and be supported by Lead Planters at work sites.

Work Environment

Aski’s 2023 ecological restoration planting projects are in the areas surrounding Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge, BC. We will be working to restore mine sites, oil and gas sites, and forestry roads in this season.

Major Duties

  • Attend and participate in project safety orientations, safety training, and tailgate meetings
  • Plant native seedlings and install live willow stakes as per planting design and per instructions provided by lead planters
  • Accurately identify plant species specifically required for plant installation
  • At the end of each workday or work shift, perform all required maintenance functions and tasks to ensure assigned piece(s) of equipment and tools are prepared and ready for the next workday, work shift, or cross shift
  • Submit daily tickets (time and safety) to the Aski’s Restoration Project Coordinator

 Required Skills

  • Desire to work outdoors in a team environment
  • Physical stamina - must be physically fit and capable of lifting, walking, bending, and carrying activities related to planting
  • Willingness to work in various terrain, remote locations, and weather conditions
  • Standard first aid
  • Knowledge and ability to use a GPS
  • Attention to detail
  • Valid 5th class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is preferred but not mandatory
