Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent, On-Site

Location: 4EG Head Office, Moberly Lake, BC;

Hours: 32–40 hours per week, with regular work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position may be scheduled Monday to Thursday, with additional days or hours based on workload and operational requirements.

Position Summary:

4EG is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant & Payroll Administrator to join our team.

The Accountant & Payroll Administrator is responsible for key accounting and payroll functions, including accounts receivable, payroll and benefits administration, account reconciliations, statutory reporting, capital asset accounting, and month-end activities.

Working closely with the Finance team and operational leadership, this position helps ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and well supported. The successful candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Month-End

  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment application, account reconciliation, monitoring outstanding balances, and follow-up on overdue accounts.
  • Prepare and complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain capital asset records, including purchases, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.

Payroll, Benefits & Statutory Reporting

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including review of employee hours, earnings, deductions, and payroll changes.
  • Prepare and submit payroll remittances and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Administer employee benefit and pension plan enrolments, changes, and terminations, and coordinate information with plan providers as required.
  • Complete year-end payroll processes and reporting, including T4 preparation.
  • Complete WorkSafeBC reporting and related reconciliations.
  • Prepare and file GST and Employer Health Tax (EHT) returns and remittances.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefit inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ensure payroll and statutory reporting deadlines are met.

Financial Administration & Controls

  • Support accurate and timely financial reporting through effective record keeping and reconciliation processes.
  • Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with year-end, audit, and other financial information requests.
  • Identify discrepancies and work collaboratively with Finance and Operations to resolve issues.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Perform other accounting and financial duties consistent with the scope of the position.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll experience.
  • Demonstrated experience processing payroll and payroll remittances.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes.
  • Experience preparing GST, EHT, WorkSafeBC, or other statutory filings.
  • Experience with capital asset accounting is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in construction, forestry, oil and gas, industrial services, or another project-based environment is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements and applicable employment and taxation requirements.
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and follow through to resolution.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Finance, Operations, Human Resources, and other teams.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial and employee information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, integrity, and accountability.

Compensation:

$41.00–$45.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with the British Columbia Employment Standards Act. 4EG offers a comprehensive benefits and pension package.
